Kimchi (kimchi.dev, by Cast AI) is a coding agent CLI with a first-class ACP server: kimchi --mode acp implements initialize, session/new, session/load, session/prompt, and session/update over stdio, which makes it a direct fit for the shared acp-json-rpc transport already serving kimi, devin, hermes, kiro, kilo, reasonix, trae-cli, and vibe.
Proposed shape, following the reasonix precedent (#2952):
- one def under
apps/daemon/src/runtimes/defs/kimchi.ts plus a registry entry, no engine changes
- live model discovery through the ACP handshake (
session/new returns both a models payload and a model config option, so selection rides session/set_config_option)
- the brand mark bundled under
apps/web/public/agent-icons/ with the AgentIcon / modelProviderIcon / agentLabels entries
- per-adapter notes in docs/agent-adapters.md and the README agent counts
I have a working branch validated against kimchi 1.1.33: detection reports 32 live models, a real run writes an artifact through one Edit tool call and finishes succeeded, a follow-up turn carries the conversation context, and the Local Agent setup shows the icon. PR incoming; opening this first per the issue-first rule so the addition is agreed wanted.
