Creating an existing group gives double message

When creating a group "friends" that user is already in, it gives a double message of "you are already in friends" and "You are now in friends"
Sometimes it also gives a double message of "you are already in friends" and "Group already exists. Use 'enter friends' to enter the group."
Unsure why the message sent is different in the same circumstance
