Can Nightwatch access modal windows?

I have a website that requires an ArcGIS login. After entering the website's url in a browser, a modal window appears for the user to enter their login credentials. I can't figure out how to instruct Nightwatch to allow that. Is it even possible, and if so, can someone please tell me how? Thanks!

Oh, and by the way, I'm a super-newbie to Nightwatch, so I don't know much about it at all. But I have used other automation tools, like WebTestIt.

Have you tried putting the username password in the url?

https://Username:password@url

ex: https://user1:[email protected]

Hi, I gave that a try, but it didn't work since there's an intermediary button click between the original URL and the popup. But, I did find a solution after watching a video on how this is solved with Selenium. I then just modified that code to fit what I was doing. Basically, I used windowHandles to differentiate between my two open windows.
