Error reading tag

[fryorcraken]

I am getting a lot of those errors. Apparently others tried and did not face them.
I don't see to have any issue with access GitHub via browser or ssh (git), and VPN is off.

To reproduce for me:

1. git clone git@github.com:waku-org/nwaku.git
2. git checkout 4d9489fbf6ec636a66258d1908b6ecc298db234c
3. cd nwaku/examples/nimble
4. nimble install "waku@#a292ace6eafaea4fee9811d9bde72e9a952e6669"

trying to install libbacktrace by itself in a new nimble repo does not seem to cause issues.

when running it in with waku.nimble, I do see that nimble tries to pull several tags of libbacktrace locally. Maybe it's due to some transient dependencies so nimble pulls several tags to try to resolve properly?

In any case, the error start from 0.0.8:

In my ~/.nimble/pkgcache, I have several folders for libbacktrace:

included 0.0.9, and included a folder with no version.

What I am guessing happens is that nimble pulls the **versions one by one, but uses the same folder ~/.nimble/pkgcache/githubcom_statusimnimlibbacktrace to pull the code (for some reason).

And because nim-libbacktrace does a git submodule update --init before install, it pulls in a folder where there are already files, hence the git error.

Yes, nimble install in nwaku project, on the branch for this PR logos-messaging/logos-messaging-nim#3623

No, I was not able to reproduce by simply adding libbacktrace to a project.

I am guessing the reason why is that if only one package depends on libbacktrace, then the latest version of libbacktrace is downloaded, and there are no conflict.

for some reason with nwaku, several versions of libbacktrace are being downloaded, which led to the conflict.
