Getting home-manager versions mismatches during flake update (with nixpkgs-unstable).

Hello Folks,

Relatively new to maintaining Nixos. My flake inputs are defined like this (as recommended in the docs):

inputs = {
    nixpkgs.url = "github:nixos/nixpkgs/nixos-unstable";
    home-manager = {
      url = "github:nix-community/home-manager";
      inputs.nixpkgs.follows = "nixpkgs";
    };
    stylix = {
      url = "github:danth/stylix";
      inputs.nixpkgs.follows = "nixpkgs";
    };
  };

After updating the flake and attempting to do a home-manager update I get a warning (only the first time I try to do the build!!):

This is the first time I am seeing a version number change. What am I meant to do in this situation ?

Here are the version strings as they eval in my flake:

The problem also shows up if I exclude updating updating home-manager in the flake:

  Home Manager version 25.11 and
  Nixpkgs version 26.05.

Using mismatched versions is likely to cause errors and unexpected
behavior. It is therefore highly recommended to use a release of Home
Manager that corresponds with your chosen release of Nixpkgs.

If you insist then you can disable this warning by adding

  home.enableNixpkgsReleaseCheck = false;

to your configuration.

Interestingly this error message prints out the offending version mismatch. Stylix should do the same :D

This requires both #2035 and #2046. Alternatively, not overriding Stylix inputs by removing inputs.stylix.inputs.${input}.follows uses the locked versions and should hopefully not be affected by this.

This should be resolved by commit 1acea29 ("flake: update all inputs (#2035)").

this is not the case, only the version of home-manager used for the eval matters in this case, so removing the follows won't effect anything other than add another home-manager version to the consumers lockfile.
