Did you try the ideas from the second linked post? We are suffering a little with the TFS Object Model being deprecated. Some cracks are showing and Microsoft is not going to fix anything. However if you are on-prem the REST API is super flaky and patchy. In fairness its super flaky on the service as well. I have a plan to enable the REST API, but it requires the plumbing we just finished for v16, and we will only support the service. The plan is to create a new class of processor for WorkItems that the work all happens in the Endpoint. That way we can separate it from TFS and have an ADO Endpoint. It will also enable offline migrations.... |

The error is being caused because the field is read-only in the API. There is nothing we can do except ignore it, which is what it does for me when it happens. If you run for just that work item, and check the log you should see a list of all the field values for that work item. Checking them is a good bet for finding the issue. It may be the error is a red herring. If it's not, then I'm not sure we can resolve it. What might be the thing to do is add more logic to work around it and not crash. This has been run at a number of times and I think there are at least 3 workarounds for this issue in the system. |

I really need the full log for that work item to even begin to have any idea what's up. Can you run it just for that work item, with debug or verbose on... And ship me that log? |

I am getting same issue in 16.0.9 - but only for one work-item. All others seems to migrate fine. I am trying to migrate a project between 2 on-premise ADO servers. |

Nevermind - I found the issue. The issue was of a type, which had been disabled on target ADO by mistake, so work item migration works, only error messages are a bit misleading. |
