survey_description: Data is collected on the size, species, and health of young and adult corals, using in-water diver surveys and advanced 3D imagery analysis. Surveys are conducted in hard-bottom habitat in water <30 m, following a stratified-random sampling site design (StRS). Random sites are generated across islands using reef zone, depth zone, pre-determined sectors, and locations of known hard-bottom habitat (typically from backscatter data), using the R project ncrmp_common_map. Site-level data should be used with caution as the data is intended to be combined and adjusted with multiple sites within a region to provide an accurate picture of coral populations across the whole area. Access more details and data visualization on the NCRMP Data Viz Tool.

survey_description: Water temperature time series data are collected using high-accuracy Subsurface Temperature Recorders (STRs) deployed at permanent coral reef monitoring sites across the U.S. Pacific. The STRs are attached to the reef using zip ties and weights and are typically deployed for 3 years at depths ranging from 0 to 30 meters. STRs provide accurate temperature data at depth, and temperature time series can be used to assess thermal stress experienced by coral reefs during bleaching events.

survey_type: Measuring Coral Colony Growth and Mortality

survey_description: Vital Rates Annotations are the annotations of 3D coral reef models generated with Structure-from-Motion photogrammetric imagery since 2014. Annotations include the size and species of each coral colony within an established site. These 'fixed' sites are revisited and re-imaged over the years. This assists with tracking coral colony survivorship and growth over time and has allowed a better understanding of coral response to environmental conditions, such as how colony size relates to the probability of their survival after coral bleaching events. Refer to InPort metadata records or SOP for more details.

survey_description: The Vital Rates dataset contains annotations of 2D and 2.5D coral reef models generated using Structure-from-Motion photogrammetry, with imagery dating back to 2014. Annotations include information such as size and species of targeted coral colonies within multiple permanent monitoring sites throughout the Pacific Basin. These 'fixed' sites are revisited and re-imaged over periods of 1-5 years. This dataset assists with tracking coral colony recruitment, survivorship and growth over time and provides a better understanding of how corals respond to environmental conditions, such as how colony size impacts the likelihood of survival after a coral bleaching event. Refer to the InPort metadata record or SOP for more details.
