screen toolkit freezes with "running" after using ocr, color picker and other tools

Im using nixos + niri, installed all the dependencies, that are written in readme for my distro.
Each time i try to use toolkit, it shows "running" and do nothing.

noctalia-shell log says "Process failed to start, likely because the binary could not be found"

all installed packages from my configuration.nix:
grim slurp hyprpicker wl-clipboard tesseract imagemagick zbar curl ffmpeg translate-shell wl-screenrec gifski jq python3 python314Packages.pygobject3 xdg-desktop-portal libnotify

@Noktum hey, I just want to say that I love NixOS xD

This issue seems more likely to be related to a Path issue on NixOS. I pushed a possible fix/workaround to my repo, but since I don’t have the issue on Arch, I need you to test it on your side and let me know if everything works correctly now.

Steps to test

• Uninstall the current (broken Screen Toolkit ) from the plugin panel

• Open a terminal and run:

cd ~/.config/noctalia/plugins/
git clone https://github.com/ycf-anon/screen-toolkit.git

• Restart the shell (or logout/login) so the plugin reloads

• Test again

Also, could you please test fullscreen recording or recording a very large region, then try stopping it from the plugin icon in the bar?

Someone else reported that stopping recordings that way was broken on NixOS. I tried to fix it too, but they never replied back to confirm whether it worked or not.

Hopefully this fixes all the issues on NixOS.

Hi, yeah, everything now works great, but i think that hyprpicker needs fix to work fine on each setup.

I checked my version of hyprpicker yesterday and found out that in stable channel on nixos there's v.0.4.5, while in unstable channel there's v.0.4.6. idk when stable channel will be updated, but is it really necessary to use flag --radius? It seems that hyprpicker works fine without it.

Other tools don't need any changes cause they work on stable channel without any problems now

Really, I’m not sure about NixOS, but I did a quick search and found that hyprpicker is already on v0.4.7 in the latest version.

in stable (25.11) there's 0.4.5, as i said earlier, in unstable 0.4.7. as for me, i prefer to use stable packages, so i had a problem with hyprpicker before configuring unstable channel on my system

@Noktum alright, I applied the fix here: #891

If the installed hyprpicker version does not support the --radius flag, it will simply be ignored/omitted and the tool will still work. If the version supports it, the flag will be used normally.

So it should work correctly across both older and newer versions.
