Clicking on a link in the frontend while on bad internet seems like it doesn't do anything

If you click on a link, it tries to loads the next page without rendering a blank page or loading animation (instead, continuing to show the same page), which from the perspective of a user with bad internet, looks like it's buggy and not doing anything.
