Using a theme is an option. And probably Hugo offers more themes than Zola.

Otherwise it's relatively easy for me to change the font and layout based on a design sketch.

The choice of Zola or Hugo is technically rather independent of design choices. But I also understand that one static site generator might be easier to understand for one person and another one easier for another person and we should optimize for the people who are likely to maintain the website. I am also happy to help migrating from Zola to something else if it helps.

I tried to resist the urge, but I'll just say it: comic sans for the win!! (I actually use comic sans as my default font in my pc 😆 🤣 )
