Duplicate Venue & Client details

if someone sends me over a list of all the venues in RIGS and a count of how often each venue name was used then I'll prepare a new list of (condensed/ consistent) venue names. I can do the same with clients. send over rig numbers as well and I'll keep track of those so new venues can be assigned to past events (if desired or needed based on DB structure)

@toastmaster2k2 What format are you going to do this in? Whatever you do will then need re-importing back into RIGS which is a massive headache. What needs to happen is that we make an interface to merge venues/clients, and then give it to someone to actually do. I don't think an excel spreadsheet of matching venues is gonna help anyone

The excel sheet is the intermediate step to determine which event has which 'new venue'. The reimporting bit I don't understand enough about . So if someone comes up with a proposal of how to do it then I'll do the labour. Crudely is there an update/change query that can go for venue ID x,y,z I want it to now be venue ID A. This works well for making a new list of venues for future events. So this query would either need to run through all past RIGS to reassign venues or the venue drop down box needs to be limited to a certain range of venue ID numbers for all new events and edits. (So all the old venues still exist which keeps past rigs from breaking if the venue table in the database was simply changed to only the condensed list).

@toastmaster2k2 The update/change query is what we need to create. When that's done, then we can figure out what venues/people/organisations are duplicates of one another. No point creating a spreadsheet if it'll never get used, or is in the wrong format
