Describe the Bug
My GPU is a modded RTX 3070 upgraded to 16GB VRAM. For daily use, I run an older 5.66 driver, and I have to set the global power management mode to Prefer Maximum Performance. Otherwise, the desktop will freeze. With this setting, idle power consumption stays at over 40W, while normally it should be around 10W.
Then Nunchaku was updated to 1.10, and the wheels were updated as well. I also updated Torch to 2.9.1. When installing Nunchaku, I encountered errors. I deleted and recreated the virtual environment, updated Torch to 2.9.1 again, and updated the wheels. After that, Nunchaku still failed to run.
From the community, I found that the solution was to update to the latest NVIDIA driver. After updating the driver, the system no longer forces the high-performance mode on the desktop. Idle power consumption dropped back to around 10W, and the desktop no longer freezes. At first, I thought this was great—more stable and more power-efficient.
However, after closing games, the system would very often crash due to a power drop. That was the real disaster.
In the end, I rolled back to the old driver and returned to Nunchaku 1.02, Torch 2.9.1, and the 312 wheels. I found that this setup is still compatible with ComfyUI and Nunchaku 1.10.
