Relationship of editing performance to autocomplete and 1.18.1 release #1346

Hi @tonyxiao,
I would like to be able to help, but I struggling to answer that. Better compared to what? What I know about Tasks performance is written up in the links in this comment: #697 (comment) For reasons explained in those links, if you have so many tasks blocks open and rendered that redrawing them all takes close to 2 seconds, then your editing will be competing with redrawing. At that point, it's possible that autocomplete may result in more edits, and may slow down editing.
1.8.1 was on 25 June this year, so quite a lot has changed. Ah - Did you mean 1.18.1? No, that would not have changed the performance. It was a bug-fix for a very specific issue in the Add/edit Task dialog - which is totally independent of tasks performance. |

@tonyxiao I presume you're having a problem with the performance of editing in Tasks... If so, please turn on the console, and if the performance gets slow, copy the Tasks logs and post them here as an attachment. You may want to redact file and folder names before posting, but please do it in a way that allows me to distinguish files from each other. Thank you. |

Thanks so much for starting a discussion on my behalf @claremacrae . I'll check on it the next time it feels slow and report back. |
