Unable to Enroll my fingerprint on my HP Elitebook 845 g8

It does not give me time to scan my finger, it just jumps straight to the error

Things I have Tried:

• Reseting the fingerprint scanner from the BIOS (didn't fix the issue)

i have an HP 845 g7. i haven't experienced these issues.

• do you happen to know whether the enrollment and authentication worked in windows?
• are you restarting fprintd.service? if not, it may be crashing
• can you run journalctl -u fprintd.service -p7 to get more detail? or journalctl -xb -f -p7 while testing enrollment?
• after boot, run sudo dmesg | less and hit / then search for 06cb:00f0 or synaptic

EDIT: the specific hardware error code is 104. try searching for info on that and synaptic. i can't seem to find actual synaptics source code

• Yes i Tried restarting the service but the issue persists.

I have seen people getting success with python-validity (this is the third party driver that adds support for the Synaptics/Validity reader).

That being said, please consider it is still a community workaround rather than an officially supported feature in the main fprint stack and am not sure if it works in every setup. Give this a shot
