Is this repository abandoned? I noticed that there are many pull requests (even simple) but no one is accepting/reviewing them.

Anybody know if there is maintained fork or alternative to this repo?

I'd say it's pretty much abandoned. Or it's poorly maintained since a few months. There is a fork to which I switched to (https://github.com/handcraftedinthealps/ElasticsearchBundle).
It's based on the 5.x Version of this bundle but maintained to work with ES 7+. IMO the changes which were made in 6.x and 7.x still have issues and are not really production ready.
