After the fix to get the game working out of the box on Steam Deck #248 it does indeed load now.
However, it's causing issues with the Steam and Quick Access menus (so you can't properly even force quit the game). With the game open, they just don't like to open. I managed to get them to open once or twice (seemingly only after suspend / resume), but most of the time the game will break the important overlays.
If you do get it to work, and you get the on-screen keyboard to load to enter a username and password, it causes the cursor to be offset to the wrong position on the keyboard itself.
