Hi! I'm Dan Gomez Blanco and I'm asking for your vote for re-election to the OpenTelemetry Governance Committee.

I am running to continue strengthening our community by amplifying end user voices, improving clarity around our roadmap and project management, and expanding our outreach to the broader open-source ecosystem.
132
+
This has been my focus over the last two years as a GC member, where I…
133
+
134
+
- Aligned the use of GitHub project updates with our [project lifecycle](https://github.com/open-telemetry/community/blob/main/project-management.md#project-lifecycle) as a way to track and communicate progress towards cross-cutting initiatives.
135
+
- Implemented our [roadmap management](https://github.com/open-telemetry/community/blob/main/roadmap-management.md) process, empowering SIGs to independently plan and surface their priorities in a common format.
136
+
- Defined and promoted guidance for [end users](https://opentelemetry.io/community/end-user/issue-participation/) and [maintainers](https://github.com/open-telemetry/community/blob/main/guides/maintainer/popular-issues.md) to improve communication around GitHub issue prioritization.
137
+
- Co-organized our first [Community Awards](https://opentelemetry.io/blog/2024/community-awards/), focusing on recognizing those humans that make our community stronger.
138
+
- Supported the End-User SIG to create and manage [OpenTelemetry Live](https://community.cncf.io/opentelemetry-live/), our CNCF Community Group, helping to bring together end users from across the globe.

I firmly believe that the success of OpenTelemetry isn't just about adopting a new tool with old practices.
141
+
It requires a fundamental shift in how we, as an industry, think about instrumenting software, from end users to OSS library maintainers.
142
+
This conviction comes from nearly a decade as an observability practitioner, including my previous role at Skyscanner, where I led the [re-architecture of its entire observability platform](https://medium.com/@SkyscannerEng/skyscanners-journey-to-effective-observability-655167a49d2f) with a focus on OpenTelemetry adoption, from client-side all the way down to cloud infrastructure.
143
+
It's also the reason I became a maintainer of the End User SIG, giving the community a platform for direct feedback and participation.
144
+
This conviction is what gets me out of bed every morning, and it's the focus of my current role as a Principal Observability Architect at New Relic, where I partner with end users to ensure their OpenTelemetry adoption strategies succeed at scale and align with their business priorities.
145
+
146
+
If re-elected, I will continue to apply this same user-centric, value-driven lens to the Governance Committee's work to help solve the most pressing issues our end users experience in adopting OpenTelemetry effectively and efficiently.
147
+
148
+
To do this, I will work to ensure a tight feedback loop guides our strategy, keeping the real-world adoption journey at the center of our decisions and helping to make the golden path of adoption the path of least resistance.
149
+
I will also continue to prioritize effective project management and clear roadmaps that support our SIGs in delivering impactful work as we scale.
150
+
Finally, I believe that making OpenTelemetry an industry standard requires sharing this vision broadly.
151
+
I will continue to build bridges to the wider ecosystem through outreach activities (see my my [personal website](https://dangb.me) for details), and to collaborate in parallel initiatives like [Instrumentation Score](https://instrumentation-score.com/) or the [IEEE Standard for Systems Observability across DevOps](https://standards.ieee.org/ieee/2675.2/11839/).

153

Thank you for your consideration.
154
+
I would be honored to have your vote to continue serving this incredible project and community.
