So tart can do only 2 virtual macos ?

I used gitlab executor to test how it handles concurrency.
To my surprise, 3rd concurrent job got stuck with The number of VMs exceeds the system limit (other running VMs: gitlab-9707012481, gitlab-9707012476).

Found out in a github issue that apple's virtualization framework has a limitation for number of macos vms (2) it can run in parallel.

Any ideas how to have concurrency of 3 to 6. I was planning to suggest my manager to get an m4 with 64gb to speedup team's workflow.

It's a limitation set by the Apple's Virtualization.Framework (which Tart uses), and it's also in the macOS EULA:

(iii) to install, use and run up to two (2) additional copies or instances of the Apple Software, or any prior macOS or OS X operating system software or subsequent release of the Apple Software, within virtual operating system environments on each Apple-branded computer you own or control that is already running the Apple Software, for purposes of: (a) software development; (b) testing during software development; (c) using macOS Server; or (d) personal, non-commercial use.

16GB might be fine. It all depends on your project's requirement.

Read the article, it's crazy how you were able to do it. Have you thought about working on the kernel extension, it may have had some commercial value if Apple had allowed it in license.
