[Paired neurons] Some old simulations show 404, when clicking on "View configuration"

When wanting to "view configuration" of some simulations is showing a 404.

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Go to Workflows
2. In the table for recent activities select Simulate > Paired neurons (beta)
3. Select this config: Name: 021025 Date: 02.10.2025 | 12h00

Expected behavior

Clicking on the "View configuration" - should redirect to the simulation configuration.

@g-bar, thank you so much, based on your investigation, these are orphaned configs: campaigns that technically exist but never got a simulation, so the system can’t determine a valid page (entity_id) to route to.

Does this relate to the ticket you're already working on or this something else @james-isbister ? https://github.com/openbraininstitute/prod-singlecell-simulation/issues/229

Basically, these are zombie configs.
Could we classify them as such and in the UI show a message: “This campaign could not be initialized correctly and is no longer available.” And if generation of the config and/ or simulation fails - it is immediately marked as "FAILED" and cannot be used.

IMHO the fix is.

Such campaigns should be deleted from the db.
Ensure obi-one doesn't save a campaign if it failed to create simulations for it.

Yes, #229 is for deleting the entities and assets in the case that the campaign generation fails somewhere. It's nearly done, but it requires new deletion functionality being worked on in entitycore

Which exact missing entity or asset was missing here, just to make sure I understand what happened? Was it the campaign_generation_config or the Simulation entity, for example?

It's the SimulationCampaign entity afaik. Its asset normally contains

• campaign
• config
• simulation

These have no "simulation".
