There's currently only one explicit requirement for adding a new company to the list, which is having a page on their website explaining their commitment to openness and transparency as a core element of the company's operation (rather than as an additional practice parallel to their main business model). This could be an "about" page, a dedicated "openness"/"transparency" page, a "values" page, or something else along those lines (see the current list for examples).
Beyond that, the assessment is of course subjective. It can help to try answering the following questions:
- Can this company be described as following the mantra "share as much as possible, charge as little as possible"?
- Do they describe why they strive for openness, not merely how?
- Do they practice several of the (applicable) example criteria described here?
