Description
Describe the improvement
Enable public verification of the OpenCRVS QR code printed on official certificates by making it verifiable via a publicly accessible URL, without requiring a login. This enhancement would allow anyone (e.g., community leaders, banks, law enforcement, etc.) to scan and verify the authenticity of a certificate without OpenCRVS system credentials.
Pitch
Currently, the QR code on OpenCRVS certificates can only be verified through a secure staff-only interface behind a login screen. While this protects access to personally identifiable information (PII), it limits the usability of the verification feature in real-world scenarios where trust and speed are essential.
Stakeholders like police officers, bank managers, or Imams, should be able to scan the code and confirm the certificate’s authenticity without logging in.
This improvement enhances:
- Trust: Third parties can independently verify certificates.
- Efficiency: No delays caused by requiring OpenCRVS staff access.
- Usability: Supports real-world interactions where quick verification is needed.

Tech design
- Using a similar approach that Pyry built for the VC in MOSIP integration, replace the certificate QR code with a VC QR code and deprecate the verify QR code URL.
