Proposed Addition: Football Culture & Fan Experiences
Based on research across 14+ community discussion platforms, specialist publications, and fan forums (2024–2026), I'd like to propose adding a "Football Culture & Fan Experiences" section to the README, supported by two new files documenting non-league match day culture.
Why This Matters
The repo focuses primarily on data and technology, but football is also a community experience — especially at the non-league level. With tickets at £5–£15 vs £30–£70+ in the Premier League, and grounds seating 500–5,000 fans, the culture is built on proximity, shared experience, and deep connection to local community.
What to Add
1. New "Football Culture & Fan Experiences" section in README.md (between Stadium Datasets and Football Apps)
- Overview of 13 core match day traditions
- Cost & accessibility comparison table
- 14+ community discussion platforms catalogue
- Notable recognition (FSA Awards, Lower Block, When Saturday Comes)
- Fan sentiment highlights with verbatim quotes
2. NON-LEAGUE-MATCHDAY-CULTURE.md — Comprehensive research guide covering:
- The 13 core traditions (Pub Signal, Intimate Grounds, Freedom of the Terrace, etc.)
- Cost & accessibility comparison across all pyramid levels
- Community platforms and what fans discuss
- FSA Away Day Experience Award winners
- Fan sentiment quotes from Reddit, forums, and publications
3. MATCHDAY-CULTURE.md — Concise quick-reference with:
- The "3 A's" framework (Affordability, Accessibility, Atmosphere)
- 7 Golden Tips for new non-league fans
- Key resources and platform links
4. FAN-COMMUNITY-DISCUSSIONS.md — Platform analysis with:
- 14+ discussion platforms catalogued
- Key recurring themes and verbatim fan quotes
- The "Three A's" framework from community research
- Away day culture and groundhopping community

How the Project Accepts Contributions
Per the README: "Contributions welcome. Anything missing? Send in a pull request. Thanks."
The project is dedicated to the public domain and welcomes PRs for both data/technology and cultural/documentation content.
This content fills a gap in the project and adds the community-driven, cultural side of football that complements the existing datasets.
