All maintainers of OpenSearch core (https://github.com/opensearch-project/opensearch) are added as members of a new group controlled by the Linux Foundation, then maintainers can better track notifications and assignments.

Additional information to support your request

OpenSearch's core repo creates complexities for managing notifications, called out in an RFC [1]. While an interim solution was created, this causes the repo to be just a little bit different in a way that can cause confusion. Recently a new branch 3.0 was being used and due to its configurations only 2 maintainers were eligible to approve the review.

This is new to us as well and only metadata sdk is practicing (LF enforced as they are the 1st repo to enter LF).

Hi,

I created a team opensearch-core-maintainers, add all maintainers of the core repo, and only have admin team members as team manager, and assign the entire team with maintainer access to opensearch core repo.

Could you help check if you need to update the CODEOWNER to reflect?
I also remove you @peternied individually from the repo maintainer to test if you still have maintainer access (approve PR etc)

I will wait for your feedback before I remove everyone from core repo individually and sorely relies on that team for maintainer access.

Wondering if this would affect the benchmark workflow https://github.com/opensearch-project/OpenSearch/blob/main/.github/workflows/benchmark-pull-request.yml#L120-L126
Might want to test it once before the change.

Hence need someone from that list to approve.
