Dear contributors, the application period is already open. Please apply through the official GSoC website. The submission must be done before April 8th (according to the official timeline) to be considered. Please do it by then.

Dear contributors,

We received 151 applications, which is a great number! Thank you for that! However, some of the applications are clearly generated by AI or not related to any projects we offered. Those won't be considered at all.
Right now, we're starting to evaluate the other ones :)

There are multiple contributors for some projects, but please note just one person can be selected to each project.
The top 3 most frequently selected projects:
Gesture Control with OpenVINO - 22 submissions
OpenVINO Messenger AI-Assistant - 17 submissions
Continuous Face-Detection with Automatic Device Switching on AI PCs using OpenVINO AUTO feature - 17 submissions

Dear contributors,

Yesterday, Google announced the projects for this summer. This year, we got 16 slots, so we will work with 16 contributors on 16 projects (listed here). The competition was quite high. We got 151 applications, but only 56 fulfilled our requirements and were considered. We had to make a difficult decision about which contributor we would like to continue working with. So if you didn't get in, it doesn't mean your application was bad. Even if the second or third application is great, the winner takes all, as there can be just one contributor per project. But feel free to reach out to the mentors to get feedback anyway.

If you are still interested in open-source and OpenVINO, you can continue your work by contributing to our toolkit. We also encourage you to join the Intel Software Innovator Program for Edge, where you can earn some rewards. Please visit the program page to learn more.

In conclusion, thank you for your engagement, PRs to the OpenVINO repository, and your submissions to GSoC. Hope to see you next year!
