Looks like it is stuck in mdfind command.

If mdfind image also hangs without any output, run sudo mdutil -aE to wipe and regenerate Spotlight metadata, wait a while, then try mdfind image again. When that works, run brew config and brew doctor to be sure.

A restart solved the issue. :)

for me, the issue was I had the entire SSD of another mapped as a network share, unmounting it resolved the issue :)
