Description of issue

i am thinking about making a gist for a script that prints a minimal list of installed packages, and hope presenting the idea here first is helpful. this script's output helps me understand my environment.

Listing packages I've specifically requested is related, but i think my script's output is more useful without being overly verbose. (Entschuldigen Sie bitte, no hablo Ruby :-)

Isn't this what brew bundle dump would give you?

brew bundle dump tries to create a different minimal list. (on one of my machines, it fails because of a circular dependency.) though primarily interested in the packages i requested, i become interested in their dependencies when something bad happens.

to facilitate running the script i provided, i limited its use of newer Python features. i tested it with Python 3.8.9, so most macOS users should be able to run it without installing Python. all it does is filter brew deps --include-build --installed output.
