Description of issue

Hi everyone,

I need to install HEAD version of root (because 6.32.04 is not compatible with the latest update of XCode). When I do

brew install --HEAD root

I get

Error: An exception occurred within a child process:
  Errno::ENOENT: No such file or directory @ rb_sysopen - build/unix/compiledata.sh

Full log in verbose mode attached.

Anybody has suggestions on what I am missing/need to do?

This is due to this line: https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-core/blob/1f7e1f3c02a0bc08597e69e7a49a1e1511927e5c/Formula/r/root.rb#L159

The build folder no longer exists on master, so this is failing and will need to be updated on the next release. For now you can change build to cmake and see if it works.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, after editing the formula and installing with brew install --build-from-source root --HEAD, I get a build problem which is probably due to the unstable HEAD (as the message says). I think I am stuck and I need to wait for the stable version which fixes the original XCode problem...
