Support for HL7 and X12 Message Transformation in Kaoto Data Mapper

Hi Kaoto team 👋,

Thanks for the amazing work on the visual route designer and data mapper! It's been incredibly helpful for integration use cases.

I wanted to ask if there are any current or upcoming plans to support HL7 and X12 message transformation directly through Kaoto's visual data mapper. These standards are widely used in healthcare and EDI domains, and native support for them would be a helpful for many users.

Looking forward to your thoughts on this.

Thank you for your interest on Kaoto and welcome to the community.

Currently we don't have a plan to directly support HL7 and X12 in Kaoto DataMapper. However, Apache Camel has large number of components and dataformats to handle various data formats, for example you can use camel-dfdl to handle EDI formats using DFDL schema

Here is a PoC for handling X12 837P with using camel-dfdl

There's also camel-smooks which also supports DFDL as well as freemarker template engine
