I installed and ran Legacy Update onto my 1.19 GHz P3 Sony Vaio laptop with 256M of RAM and after a slow go of it, got a list of updates to install on my computer. I opted to install the critical updates and after a while had success.
The next time that I ran Legacy Update, I was unable to get a list of updates. It ran for over twenty-four hours without finishing. I did notice that svchost.exe was taking up 100% of my CPU. The next thing that I did was to reboot my computer. Even after the reboot, svchost.exe was taking up 100% of my CPU. Then, I decided to remove Legacy Update to see if the computer would return to normal. Thankfully, it did. My CPU is now idling around 1%. Hopefully, you find this informative and helpful. I think that what you are trying to do is a great thing. Maybe someone has an idea why it didn't work anymore and used 100% CPU after the first go around???
