The problem I am currently facing is because of how my computer (tougbook 28 running win2k sp4) connects to the internet. Currently I use a sitecom pcmcia wifi card which requires special software to operate because of win2ks lack of a wifi pannel, unlike xp. When the computer boots into the "legacyupdatertemp" account, it is unable to connect to the internet to download files due to the drivers and config software not bieng loaded, giving me a related error message. After finishing this post, I will install IE sp1 via an exe and retry. I also have a different pcmcia wifi card which I can try to use however I need to find them first. The only other internet connection options I have is to use dial up with sone sort of a converter box to ethenet or wifi as I do not have acess to a physical phone line which I am allowed to tamper with, however this solution may not work due to the lack of drivers and settings bieng loaded and having to find a local server to dial into. After I have tried fixes I will report back in this thread and write a detailed bug report :)
Any questions or other ideas, please feel free to reply to this thread or nessage me through github!
Luca.
Ps, I have a spare wifi card which I took from an old thinkpad r40 however there are no wifi antenas in the toughbook so I would not be able to comunicate to other devices with it.. also note the above driver problem and the likely locked down panasonic bios, which I encountered the hard way when I tried to hotwire a different dvd rom drive into the existing caddy.
