Unable to cast object of type 'YesSql.Indexes.DescribeContext

I create a module called "Vendors" I want to provide a new content type that would allow the user to manage vendors information from the UI.

I created this model

    public class Vendor : ContentItem
    {
        public string Title { get; set; }
    }

Along with this migration

   public class VendorsMigrations : DataMigration

        private readonly IContentDefinitionManager _contentDefinitionManager;

I added this maped indexes

        public override void Describe(DescribeContext<Vendor> context)
        {
            context.For<VendorIndex>()
                   .Map(vendor => new VendorIndex

                       ContentItemId = vendor.ContentItemId,

        }
    }

But I run my code, I get the following error

InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type 'YesSql.Indexes.DescribeContext1[CrestApps.Orchard.Vendors.Models.Vendor]' to type 'YesSql.Indexes.DescribeContext1[OrchardCore.ContentManagement.ContentItem]'.

What am I doing wrong?

All content items is of same class ContentItem so creating class Vendor from inheriting from it won’t work.

If you need to define custom class See User For example

How would I create the VendorIndexProvider without the Vendor class? The only reason I added it is to get my index to work

Create a class that inherit from Entity

OrchardCore/src/OrchardCore/OrchardCore.Users.Core/Models/User.cs

public class User : Entity, IUser

Then you can define index for that class

OrchardCore/src/OrchardCore/OrchardCore.Users.Core/Indexes/UserIndex.cs

@ns8482e Thank you for pointing me to the right direction. But Entity does not have ContentItemId or the Published flag. I want these teo properties to be part of my index.

First you need to decide will you use custom class or OrchadCore's content types, because there are differences in instantiation of class.
If you only need DisplayText, ContentItemId and Published you can use ContentItemIndex.

I suggest you look into this sample repo.
Regarding indexing of objects look into BookIndex.cs vs PersonPartIndex.cs.

@CrestApps may be your best option is to define VendorPart in C# and create Vendor content type using migration.
