The Neural part caught my eye. What exactly is the ML component doing here? Is it for content extraction, ranking, or something else?

The Neual part of neural crawler plays several roles beyond just content extraction or ranking.

Content extraction and normalization

• Identify and extract relevant fields (title, date, author, main text, metadata, structured data) from diverse page formats.
• Normalize boilerplate noise, boilerplate boilerplate, and extract entities or key phrases.

Information extraction and classification

• Tag pages by topic, language, domain, sentiment, or intent.
• Extract structured data (tables, lists, JSON-LD) and convert to a uniform schema.

Entity resolution and linking

• Resolve mentions to canonical entities (people, organizations, places) and link across pages or documents.

Topic modeling and clustering

• Group similar pages or passages to reduce redundancy and identify themes.

Crawling strategy and coverage optimization

• Learn which links or domains yield the most useful content and adjust crawl priorities.
