Installing on ext4 instead of btrfs: fully supported ?

Hi,

I am considering installing SpiralLinux XFCE on a desktop machine and I would prefer to use ext4 instead of btrfs as the root filesystem.

I have a few questions:

• Is it fully supported to install SpiralLinux on ext4 using manual partitioning in Calamares?

• If installed on ext4, are there any scripts, hooks or systemd units that would fail or cause instability because they expect btrfs (for example snapper automatic snapshots before apt upgrades)?

• After installing on ext4, is it safe to remove btrfs-related packages such as btrfs-progs, snapper, snapper-gui, libbtrfs0, libbtrfsutil1, python3-btrfsutil without breaking anything?

My goal is a clean, stable Debian-based system using only official Debian repositories, with a complete hardware support base (firmware, codecs, drivers) and no dependency on btrfs.

Yes. There is even an automated option that allows selecting ext4.
