Hi @deltaic-expound4! I'm Dosu and I'm helping the TriliumNext team. This is a deliberate design change, not a bug. The right panel was redesigned in PR #8095 (merged December 2025), which replaced the old widget header buttons (close, settings) with a new collapsible card-based layout. In the current implementation:
So what you're seeing matches the current intended behavior. The screenshot from the manual appears to be outdated documentation reflecting the pre-redesign UI. If you'd like the ability to fully hide/close individual widgets (rather than just collapse them), that would be a feature request for the new right panel architecture. To reply, just mention @dosu. Docs are dead. Just use Dosu. |

Ah oke. I missed the PR about the redesign. Still I liked the possibility to hide the widgets. They are sometimes distracting and obscuring long lines. So the would be a feature request than :-). |

@deltaic-expound4 , you should already have two options at your disposal:
Are any of these options sufficient for you? If not, please describe why. We decided to move away from the original sidebar implementation because it was confusing, especially when switching between splits which would make the sidebar show in one split and be hidden in another (if you had too few headings), this caused significant layout shift. |

Option 2 removes the widgets allright, but doesn't give me more space to edit text. |

@deltaic-expound4, that's not an issue of the sidebar, it's simply the content width. You can change the content width to something longer or adjust it at note level using |
