top toolbar takes too much space (find and replace icon on its own)

Hello,
I just wanted to check if this is to be expected: why the find and replace icon stays on its own on a whole new line in the top toolbar?

I mean, I could use some extra vertical space when writing notes and it looks like that icon should belong together with the last 3 on the end of the toolbar above, but for some reason it stays alone. I tried zooming out the window, narrowing the side bar with notes list, but that icon won't budge.

This is because you have enabled “Display the toolbar on multiple lines if it doesn’t fit” in the “Text notes” section in the settings. The option is not enabled by default.

That is because the formatting toolbar is part of the ribbon which shares the same content width as the content of the note. You can increase the content width in “Appearance” settings.

I see. I have increased the width as you told and it's fitting now, still have a doubt about all of this blank space in between:

Are those like 2 separate toolbars? If yes, wouldn't it be easier to only have one?

They're not. It's simply a styling choice to align the items at the end of the toolbar. It doesn't occupy any additional space on its own.

For reference, the alignment from a8dbe9b can be undone via custom CSS:
