Trilium can work well for quick note-taking, but with some differences from Blinko. All notes in Trilium must be part of a hierarchy—there’s no true “standalone” note, but you can set up an “Inbox” note (using the For sharing from Android, Trilium supports creating notes via its REST API, and you can set up custom endpoints for integrations like HTTP shortcuts. There’s also an official “Trilium Sender” Android app, which lets you quickly send text or images into your Trilium note tree (it creates new “day notes” by default). The Sender app is “write-only”—for full note management on mobile, you’d use the web interface (source). If you’re used to Blinko’s truly independent notes, the main adjustment is that Trilium always puts new notes somewhere in the tree (like the Inbox or Journal), but you don’t have to organize them right away. The system is flexible and fast for capturing quick, context-free notes, and the REST API makes Android integration straightforward (source). If you want a workflow where you can just “dump” notes and organize later, Trilium is a good match. If you need notes that are never part of any structure at all, that’s not how Trilium is designed—but for most quick note-taking and sharing scenarios, it should fit your needs well. Trilium's main use case is to create your own personal knowledge base, so it's a bit more centered on the organization part and less on the concept of taking notes quickly. Nevertheless, this is generally not a problem since you can use Day notes and the concept of Inbox which helps you creates notes easily. I think the best approach is to try it for a few days and see if it matches your expectations. If it does, feel free to share your experience so we know what can be improved. |

I currently use blinko for notes taking because it has the concept of stock, independent notes that I use a lot.
Several people told me how good Trilium is and I wanted to gauge whether it build be suitable for my use case.
In often need to create a short note that has no context. This is also the place where I "share" from Android through a HTTP shortcut to the REST API.
Would Trilium be a good match? Thanks for any comments!
