Locking Up on Notes with 'Included Note' #8076

There are reports of Trilium locking up or becoming very slow when loading or editing notes with complex content—this includes notes that use the 'Included Note' feature, especially if the included content is large or contains lots of mentions, code blocks, or formatting. This is linked to a known bug in CKEditor 5 (used by Trilium) that can cause high CPU usage and UI freezes, particularly when features like mentions or large code blocks are present. Disabling "Enable Emoji auto-completion" and "Enable Slash Commands" in Options → Text Notes, breaking up large notes, and avoiding recursive or very complex inclusions can help reduce crashes and lag. If you suspect a recursive inclusion (like a note including itself), that can also cause a freeze—this was fixed in v0.46, but is still worth checking for if you're on an older version. More details and workarounds are discussed here and here. To reply, just mention @dosu. How did I do? Good | Irrelevant | Incorrect | Verbose | Hallucination | Report 🐛 | Other |
