It would be cool if specific notes could be shared publicly. As in, if a note is shared, a url specific to that note is generated and would not require a login password to view (or potentially edit).

Editability or ability to view the child notes could be optionally permitted.

Hi,

Sharing notes is already possible through the sharing system, provided you have a self-hosted server instance. Let me know if you have any specific questions about it.

Note that this is read-only, for editability we'd need a form of multi-user support (#4956) which is not there yet.

Ok, just found it in the hidden files section.

I have to move the notes out of their native root notes into the Share Notes section.

Could we maybe add the feature of allowing the notes to be sharable and remain in their original position?

Also, perhaps there could be an easier way to navigate to the Shared Notes section, because I have to search for it every time in order to get to it.

Optionally allowing editing on a public note would also be nice, although there should likely be optional limitations, like no image or files uploads, only text.

@StephenArg , no need to manually move the note into shared notes.
If you are using the new layout, simply press on the note context menu ([...] in top-right) and check Shared).
On the old layout, go to Basic properties in the ribbon (underneath the title, should be first or second icon) and just check the Shared toggle.

I still think having a customizable option to show all shared notes on the tool bar would be useful.

Can I make another feature request to make shared notes optionally editable?

There is a way to see all shared notes. See https://docs.triliumnotes.org/user-guide/advanced-usage/sharing#viewing-and-managing-shared-notes

Regarding editable shared notes, this is not possible at the moment due to the fact that Trilium is single-user by design. The share system is intentionally decoupled from the main app and read-only for security reasons.

The only way to share notes and make them editable is to maintain a separate Trilium instance and share the password with the people who need to modify it.

Trilium is not like a wiki, since it's meant to be a personal knowledge base system.
