AsyncAPI (or Event Driven) Meetup Group

This is just a discussion following the conversations we had in the SIG meeting on the 23rd of November 2021.

What is it

A meetup group where people can come, connect and watch small talks around AsyncAPI / Event Driven stuff.

The format could be something like:

Once a month / Once every 2 months.

• Speaker
• Break
• Speaker
• Discuss/Breakout/Hangout

How it could work

We could arrange a meetup group and have the meetup virtual.

Why

• Gives people the ability to share ideas/talks around AsyncAPI vs waiting another year for the conference
• Allows people to meet online and discuss and connect with each other
• Super informal meetup space where people can relax come share ideas and learn of each other
• Get exposure for AsyncAPI

Thoughts/Questions

• Would we be limiting ourselves to a particular audience if we just focus around AsyncAPI? Could/Should it be an Event-Driven Meetup group? Gives people the ability to talk about other stuff?
• Would anyone be interested in this?
• Would anyone be interested in helping organize this? (Let's give @derberg a break 😜)

If we find value in this, I'm happy to run/organise it with some helping hands of others

Nice one @jessemenning , as mentioned to @nictownsend above, I think we should start thinking about it in early 2022, will be in contact after the Christmas period to see if we can take it forward.
