BitDataGrid Improvements

[nhwilly]

I created a new branch and had AI convert two of my old list pages to the new pre-release drop this morning.

Wow - this is fantastic.

I haven't really stress tested it yet, but what a great component.

I also haven't been this excited about a feature in a while. It has really improved the look and feel of my app.

Hats off to the developer(s) that unleashed this one.

[msynk]

wow, thanks a lot for your kind words. We appreciate it. ✌

[nhwilly]

I can't believe how much is in here. The excel frozen column feature is so cool.

I just made a list of 10 things I can use to improve my lists. I created a bunch of work arounds where this control, even stripped down, will be better. Multiple selection, virtualization the server to give me infinite scrolls on logs.

I can get rid of whole panel-based inspectors with a row template that expands instead.

It's wild.

Please let us know if you find any bugs or issues, or if you need any new features that aren't available yet.

[nhwilly]

Posted a bug regarding Firefox and column resizing. Everything else has been smooth as silk.

I never build off of prerelease versions, but your entire package/support has been so rock-solid that I just migrated all the way to it (not in production, yet) and it has transformed my app and I am moving faster than ever and my app looks very professional.

Many thanks.

Great, thanks. We will soon begin to deploy the stable version.

Hey! We just deployed the stable release! @nhwilly
We'd like to have online meeting with you discussing about your experience and the way these new features can improve it!
Let us know if you're interested!

[nhwilly]

Already installed and working. I'd be happy to help any way I can. Just let me know. I am in Indiana, USA which is UTC - 4 at the moment.

[yasmoradi]

Great! Could you please send me a message over whatsapp (+31684207362) or my email yas@bitplatform.dev and give me a few time slots so I can pick one?
My time schedule is quiet flexible 😊

[nhwilly]

I see you're UTC +2.

That's about 6 hours difference.

I'll be civilized and try WhatsApp in the morning my time. 😀

Talk to you soon.

How do you set an initial column sort on the grid? All of my grids have a default sort they should use on page load. I didn't see how to do this without having to try to do so programmatically. Hoping I missed something obvious.

Also I see the examples for getting and saving state. But I didn't see how to apply this on page load as well. I often save grid state between pages, but I didn't see how to 'apply' the saved state on load. I could see this as potentially being another vector of trying to set sorts, etc. on page load as other libraries do, but didn't see this tied into the grid lifecycle?

[msynk]

Thanks for contacting us.

• I think the initial sort is not the job of the data grid; it's the data loader's job to sort the initial data. If you know other components/libraries that have such a feature, plz lemme know.

• You need to store the BitDataGridState instance somewhere (on client or server) to have access to it on page load.

@illiniguy
After some investigation, I realized my initial thought was incorrect, and having such a feature is extremely useful. Could you please file a new issue for adding this feature?
