Bottles noob here. I just installed Bottles in an Alpine Linux VirtualBox VM. I created my first Bottle and was able to install the "CPxxLoad" app on it. This is a proprietary Genovation app which allows me to program their CP48 macropad or update its firmware.
If I am using a Win10 VM I just click on the VirtualBox Devices Menu -> USB to give the Win10 guest the macropad I would like to program.
When I click on the VirtualBox Devices Menu -> USB to give the Alpine guest the macropad I would like to program, the Alpine guest does get control of the macropad BUT the Bottled "CPxxLoad" app does not see the macropad. I am guessing that while the Alpine Guest VM does have control of the macropad, my Bottle does not.
Is there anyway to switch USB devices over from Alpine Linux to the Bottle?
I thought this would not be an issue because the macropad is essentially a keyboard. While the CPxxLoad app in my Bottle can see the Keystrokes when I press a key, the app does not see the macropad in a way it can program it.
I saw a similar post about using wincfg to give control of a USB drive to a Bottle by using the winecfg (Drives tab), but my version of the macropad does not show up as a Drive.
