Have used bottles for some years now, 2 extremely annoying and sorely missing common-sense feature below.
I have used for example every build in this line, past, present DAILY for years,
aur/bottles-git 2:51.18.r78.g3e1dc5bd-2 (+18 0.02)
Easily manage wineprefix using environments
aur/bottles 2:51.24-1 (+171 5.21) (Installed)
Easily manage wine and proton prefix
Obviously I would expect arch builds would be up-to-date and yep just checked 51.25 latest release today... STILL MISSING
#1 Actual bottles, under the Bottles tab are not and cannot be set (in settings or via any gui button) to be alphabetical sorted? Why is this missing. Common sense feature. Only 'programs' inside bottles are alphabetically sorted.
#2 Under library tab, library entries also are unsorted, which ridiculous, sorely lacking and common sense. Imagine adding > 50 item to 'Library,' which are displayed via grid: images and yet you have to painfully browse by image only to actual locate a folder.
The fact that now years have gone by and you cannot simple sort actual 'Bottles' themselves or any 'Library items' is pretty poor, expected and actually needed core features! IT IS 2025, even 1995 on DOS any such tool manager tool would have sorting items, seriously.
I actually have to use another program entirely to basically have the same basic sortable library feature, you might want to take a look,
aur/cartridges-git 2.10.1.r0.gce584a0-1 (+2 0.00)
A GTK4 + Libadwaita game launcher
extra/cartridges 2.12.1-2 (237.0 KiB 1.3 MiB) [gnome-circle] (Installed)
Simple game launcher written in Python using GTK4 and Libadwaita
I'll be harsh as a former designer and tester for over 20 years... this is basically incompetent and sign that developers do'nt even use their own tool, isn't it because there is not much excuse.
Bottles for me is #1 but the looming question or problem stands.... sorting bottles and library items is just common sense.
I noted (has been 1 year or more) and previous update added 'alphabetical sorting' on a raised issue after way too long and de-prioritized schedule but when implemented finally, it was only for Bottle item, not bottles themselves or library items, even more logically important.
I would this would be a priority issue, like #1 crucial function added with priority. Given that in code, Bottle items are alpha-sorted, I imagine it's a 15 MINUTE fix and update.
I appreciate Bottles greatly, so pardon my tone here but it is beyond frustrating how I watched and waited for years naturally expecting some smart and competent dev would eventually notice and figure it out---did not happen.. I won't both erto raise an 'issue' because every single time I have in past for other project, they never get addressed.
If you read this = great. Thanks for your time and work, just trying to help on the obvious.
