Need Help with Contact Creation in Chatwoot API

Hello Chatwoot Support,

I am facing an issue while trying to create a contact through the Chatwoot API, and I have exhausted all possible troubleshooting steps. I would really appreciate your help.

What We Have Tried So Far:

1. Successfully Created a Contact Once (But No Inbox Association)

   • We managed to create a contact using the API, but the contact was not associated with any inbox.
   • This caused issues later when trying to start a conversation, as the contact did not have a source_id inside an inbox.

2. Subsequent Contact Creation Attempts Fail with "Resource Could Not Be Found"

   • After the first successful creation, we tried to create another contact, but now we always receive a 404 error:

     {"error": "Resource could not be found"}

   • This happens even though we are using the same API endpoint and request structure that worked before.

3. Postman Also Returns the Same 404 Error

   • To rule out any issues in my code, I tested the same API request directly in Postman, and I got the same "Resource could not be found" error.

Questions:

1. Why was the first contact not associated with an inbox?
2. Why do we now consistently receive a 404 error when trying to create new contacts?
3. Are we missing any required parameters in our request?

We are running out of options, and any guidance from your team would be greatly appreciated.
