The postgresql "SET TIMEZONE TO" is completely ignored

In a poostgresql connection if you set:
set timezone to 'a timezone'; show timezone; select now();

then dbeaver ignores completely the set timezone to 'a timezone'; and it shows the select now() based on the timezone that you have in windows-->preferences-->user interface.
Things get even weirder by the fact that the show timezone indicates that the change of timezone has been made!!!
It seems that there is no concept of a session timezone.
