I'm unsuccessfully trying to "cast" the display of my MacBook Pro (i7-3520m) to a Samsung Frame TV using Gnome Network Displays ("GND"). Upon choosing the Samsung TV from the list of found devices, the TV image changes to a screen-centred logo of something looking like the Google Cast logo and the GND app quits on my MacBook. After a couple of minutes the logo up on the Samsung Frame disappears and whatever was originally on the TV returns to the screen.
I have researched the issue and found via a sudo terminal session that iw phy indicates that wifi interface and/or wpa_supplicant does not support P2P interface mode. My understanding is that the hardware on this model MacBook Pro does in deed support P2P modes. Is the capability not listed because the version of wpa_supplicant included with elementaryOS 8 is not compiled with P2P included?
If the above is accurate, could someone describe how to update wpa_supplicant and/or elementaryOS to enable P2P capabilities?
Thanks very much for any help that can be provided!
