I would like to report an issue with httpx but discussions are closed.

The preferred way of reporting issues in httpx is creating a discussion. However, discussions are currently disabled, see encode/httpx#3784. How do I report an issue?

I'm going to be honest, though I appreciate the fork, I would rather support @lovelydinosaur efforts. I can see work is being performed on other repos. I just think maintainers hit rough spots and get burned out.

Hopefully we will get a response and revive a clearly superior package over requests.

I second that. In my case, I am trying to fix multiple projects that depend on httpx and would prefer if they didn't all have to change dependencies. But currently this project looks unmaintained, which in the long run would force us to switch.

This wasn't his first time and it won't be the last. It's an ongoing pattern of behaviour documented in public. As much as I don't like switching to a fork this early, it might be better to bite the bullet now.

sorry I just stumbled across the httpx repo and have a bug to report. I haven't followed any of the previous discussions going on in the community but it appears there has been some kind of falling out somewhere... Could someone fill me in on the status of the project? Do I consider it unmaintained? Orphaned? On a break?

Six weeks after Miguel Grinberg forked httpx as httpxyz, the Pydantic team launched their own fork, httpx2, and Miguel is publicly blessing it as the path forward. Kludex (Marcelo, maintainer of Starlette and on the FastAPI team) had also considered a fork. Michael walks through the changes in httpx2: swapping certifi for truststore, defaulting to zstd compression via compression.zstd on Python 3.14+, and vendoring httpcore directly to reduce supply chain surface.
