Touchscreen calibration #4667

Posted at 2022-05-05 by user140377 May be not that much here, but I've always wondered if the touchscreen or my hand-eye-coordination needs calibration. Posted at 2022-05-05 by Sir_Indy This thread is asking the same question, you might be able to join forces: http://forum.espruino.com/conversations/375397 But similar to user140377, I think the touchscreen is probably accurate and it's just using big fingers on a tiny screen that makes it tricky. I'm getting better at hitting the button I want with practice. Posted at 2022-05-05 by user140377 I have a capacitive touchscreen pen somewhere, probably will check that. Posted at 2022-05-05 by @gfwilliams Right now there's no calibration. If it actually turns out to be a problem then it's something that could be added, but it probably makes more sense to do it in the firmware. Posted at 2022-05-05 by MoeMoep Good Idea, got a tiny-tip-touch-pen right here. Attachments: Posted at 2022-05-06 by @gfwilliams Interesting, thanks! The best way to know for sure would be there's a 'paint' app you can install. Or you can do something along the lines of:
Posted at 2022-05-06 by user140377 I guess there is a paint app: https://banglejs.com/apps/?id=tinydraw Posted at 2022-05-06 by Kane Hello, It is not perfect but seem to work well for me, if you want you can give it a try: I will try to update it until it is good enough to be submited for the official app loader Posted at 2022-05-09 by @gfwilliams That's great - thanks! Posted at 2022-05-11 by Kane Hello, The application seem to work well, integrate with the App Loader, have a (simple) setting page that allow to active or deactivate it's effect. But I am not sure how to do the PR to submit it, since I added it as a submodule on my side, if I subit it in this state it only suggest to add it in the same way. Should I delete everything and just add the files manually before submiting it or is that format ok too? Posted at 2022-05-11 by @gfwilliams Ahh, yes - please can you just add the files straight to the repo? It was discussed about submodules a while back but it just makes things too tricky. 500 submodules would be crazy slow to clone, and imagine we change something in the firmware and have to update a bunch of apps to make it work - we'd have to manually send out hundreds of PRs (which would be pretty much impossible). Posted at 2022-05-11 by Kane Sure no problems :) Fork redone and PR sent o7 Posted at 2022-05-11 by MoeMoep Works like a charm. Calibration App showed sth like -10 for vertical after 20 crosses. |

Is there a way to do a touchscreen calibration? I currently have to touch ~3-4 mm above the actual thing I want to hit.
