Backup problems - cross post from r/banglejs

There seems to be some problem with the app loader:

Since yesterday I couldn't create a backup anymore. This is the error I'm getting.

Any suggestions? I really don't get it.

I actually had the same problem. Sorry, no idea why this happens.

Thanks for your quick response. One thing to note is maybe that yesterday I tried 5 or 6 new clock faces. And with trying I mean installed one, checked out for 1 or 2 minutes, then decided I didn't like them and uninstalled it again. This like I said I did like 5 or 6 times one after another. After that I decided to make my occasional back up and got that problem. I tried already 2x a clean reboot. Restarted my phone with gadgetbridge. By the way, when I choose reinstall all apps, will it also bring back all the settings for each app?

In addition to this, I've also seen some strangeness on app loader in Gadgetbridge the last day or so. Like it saying the browser not supporting BLE, all the while it definitely works to connect and upload apps.

Edit: I have not tried to reproduce the problem described on reddit for myself.

Thank you very much thyttan for sharing this here. Very kind of you. Firmware Version 2v25 and it was installed over the Gadgetbridge app loader. What version number does Gadgetbridge have on your phone?

I am using the Bangle.js Gadgetbridge ,from Google Play, version 0.82.1b-banglejs.
In the time I got my bangle.js2 I first used the fdriod Bangle.js Gadgetbridge app, but I didn't get notifications to work and I read that the Google Play one would work better, and it did, sinI never went back. By the way I tried to back up from the web app loader, in Vivaldi, and it gave me the same error. So I guess it has not much to do with the companion app?

Hi, thanks for posting this - so when you do the backup, is that from within Gadgetbridge? Or are you just using the App Loader from the Web Browser?

I made some changes recently to use a different method of connecting to the Bangle (via the browser) that allows big files to be uploaded faster and hopefully more reliably - but this looks like it could somehow be related

Do you have it set up to use the 'development app loader'? I've just pushed a change that should fix this.

I tried before both. I mean backup in the web browser and in Gadgetbridge, but both failed. I just tried the development app loader in 2 browsers and that gave me the same error.

Ok - had you tried them before? If so maybe it was cached - if you hit reload it might work? I definitely had that error, found out why it was happening, then fixed it and it worked fine, so it might be you still have the old version?

I never tried developer mode on the app loader before if you meant that. Sorry, you mean the old version of what exactly? Because the firmware of the bangle.js2 is up to date and so is Gadgetbridge too. I tried restarting my bangle and also Gadgetbridge but sadly I still get that error.

Because the app loader is a website, your web browser caches it (especially the development version as it comes from GitHib).

As a result, if you went to https://espruino.github.io/BangleApps/ a few days ago, and then you went again today, you will have exactly the same copy of the website even though I just changed it because your web browser is using its cached version.

You'd need to hit the refresh/reload page button in the web browser, and then hopefully it'd load the new version?
