Describe the feature
With the planned deprecation of Supervised installations by the end of 2025, users who rely on flexible, custom environments will lose a key method of running Home Assistant and will no longer be able to utilize the full potential of the OS. This does not fall in line with the open-source and community based philosophy of HA.
To address this, I propose adding official support for Home Assistant OS on SBCs based on the RK3588 processor, like the Radxa Rock 5B Plus and 5C.
These boards offer much higher performance, way better energy efficiency and improved AI capabilities at a lower price tag than the currently supported hardware. This makes them excellent candidates for headless, low-power Home Assistant installations. Official support or optimized images would ensure that users can run Home Assistant in a supported way without being locked into specific hardware or architectures.
Use cases
Current workarounds
I am running a supervised Installation on a Radxa Rock 5B Plus, which is working like a charm whilst drawing only 2.4 watts avarage.
