Local To-do lists with a Shopping List needs a search function and maybe categories

This integration need a search function, soon a list can get pretty big if one plans to reuse the items in the list and in the 2 years of using it, many items in the list gets doubled and trippled which only makes any list worst. Please consider an upgrade.

Why the uncertainty?

I have choosed to use this "not sure where it belongs" section to post my request as i am not a very skilled person and during the years my posts got dismissed quickly because whatever reasons. I am not pointing to anyone but seriously, sometimes we get silenced for no reason in a minute, instead of a little careful answer and pointing in the right direction.

Use cases

Once an item is added to a list and the list gets pretty big, for real life use, it is very hard to find an item whith no search function in the list.

It looks like you’re quite a heavy user of the Shopping List integration, and I really appreciate that you took the time to share such a thoughtful suggestion. It’s clear you’ve spent a lot of time with it and know where it falls short in real use.

As far as I know, there hasn’t been much active development on this part of Home Assistant recently — the main focus has been on improving device integrations and automations, so the Shopping List isn’t really a top priority right now.

That said, your proposal definitely isn’t being dismissed — and I’m not in any position to make such decisions anyway. I just wanted to offer an alternative that might serve you better in the meantime. If you rely on lists heavily, you might want to explore dedicated integrations like Bring!, OurGroceries, or Mealie, or other To-do List integration, which already provide features such as search, categories, and multi-device sync. They usually fit that use case better.

Your feedback still matters though — it helps highlight real user needs and might inspire improvements once this area gets more attention.
